[Financial News] On the 30th, CNN reported that a tsunami generated by a magnitude 8.8 earthquake on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia reached the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, USA, and northern California.
CNN reported that the highest tsunami warning was issued here, and a mild advisory was issued for other parts of the US West Coast.
Josh Green, Governor of Hawaii, USA, warned that waves up to 3 meters high could reach the northern islands of Hawaii and advised residents to evacuate to higher ground.
Governor Green said the tsunami would "surround several islands" rather than just one beach.
BBC reported that the tsunami has begun to be observed in Hawaii, with wave heights currently measured at 1.21 meters.
In Japan, where the tsunami first arrived, the waves were weaker than expected, but in several regions of the Pacific, evacuations were ordered, maintaining a state of alert.
