No Political Threats Yet... Investigating Motive
[Financial News] A man in his 20s was caught by the police while trying to enter the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office building with a machine gun bullet.
The Seoul Seocho Police Station announced on the 30th that they have arrested a man in his 20s, Mr. A, as a flagrant offender for violating the Firearms and Explosives Control Act and are investigating him.
Mr. A was caught by a security officer while trying to pass through the security checkpoint of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office building at around 12:40 PM with a 7.62mm machine gun bullet in his bag.
Although Mr. A was incoherent when the police arrived, he reportedly did not make any political claims or threats.
The police have confiscated the bullet from Mr. A and are investigating the exact acquisition route and motive for the crime. It has been identified as an incident unrelated to security threats such as North Korea or espionage.
