[Financial News] Woongjin Thinkbig announced on the 30th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kathmandu University and the Private School Association in Nepal to distribute the AI-based Korean learning service 'Thinkbig Topic'.
With this agreement, Woongjin Thinkbig will explore ways to expand Korean language education with Kathmandu University and conduct pilot classes using Thinkbig Topic in some schools through the Private School Association. Based on this, it plans to fully expand its Korean language education business in Nepal from 2026.
Nepal ranks among the top 5 countries in terms of the number of foreign students in Korea, and the demand for Korean language learning for study and employment is rapidly increasing. Last year, Kathmandu University strengthened Korean language education by establishing a Korean language department, and Korean is included as a second foreign language in the national curriculum.
Thinkbig Topic is a learning solution for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) that provides customized curriculum and feedback by analyzing the learner's level through AI. In particular, the 'AI Writing Tutor' function enhances the learning effect of the writing section through real-time scoring and detailed feedback. It is currently available in 10 languages, including Korean.
Its use is also expanding overseas. In Thailand, pilot classes were conducted at 8 schools, including Silpakorn University, and in Nigeria, it was adopted as the official evaluation tool for scholarship selection exams. Woongjin Thinkbig is also pursuing an agreement with the University of Kansas in the United States.
Ilkyung Kim, head of Woongjin Thinkbig's DGP Business Division, said, "There is a high response from overseas educational institutions due to the ability to improve grades in a short period with AI customized learning," and "We will contribute to the activation of Korean language education by expanding global partnerships through this agreement."
