13 Startups Participate... Forming Technology, Planning, and Promotion Divisions to Propose Policies and Promote Industry Collaboration
[Financial News] Korea Startup Forum announced on the 30th that the 'MICE Tech Industry Council', a private alliance to lead the digital transformation (DX) of the MICE industry, has been launched.
The council held a kickoff meeting and launch ceremony on the 15th at Maru360 in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and began its activities in earnest. The event was attended by 13 startups, including GroundK, Roobook, MICE Link, Easy Peasy, Maze, Blue Origin, Circle Connection, and Opener DOC.
Jang Dong-won, CEO of GroundK, was elected as the council chairman. To enhance operational efficiency, the council is organized into divisions: Technology Division (Ahn Young-hak, CEO of Eventers), Planning Division (Hwang Sung-min, CEO of Opener DOC), and Promotion Division (Lee Hyun-jin, CEO of MICE Link), with Professor Yoon Young-hye of Dongduk Women's University participating as an advisory member.
The council aims to establish itself as a private policy platform centered on startups, focusing on digital innovation in the MICE industry, building networks between industries, proposing policies, and improving regulations. Through this, it plans to expand policy intersections with the government and strengthen global competitiveness.
Gu Tae-eon, Vice Chairman of COSPO, said, "The MICE industry is a field in urgent need of digital transformation, and this council has presented an innovation model led by the private sector," adding, "The government and local governments should redefine the MICE industry as a strategic industry and support institutional improvements."
Jang Dong-won, the council chairman, emphasized, "The convergence of MICE and technology creates a new business order," and "We will lead a private-led digital transformation with policy proposals and collaboration models that reflect voices from the field."
Meanwhile, COSPO is the largest startup organization in Korea, with over 2,500 startups and innovative companies participating. It continues to promote the activation of the startup ecosystem and institutional improvement activities by operating affiliated councils such as the Remote Medical Industry Council, Legal Tech Industry Council, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Think Tank.
