Analysis of Data Received by Ministry of SMEs and Startups... 35 Reports Since 2021, 47 Applications for Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Recorded
[Financial News] The number of reports of technology infringement targeting startups has been increasing every year until last year.
According to data received by Wint Administrative Office from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups on the 30th, a total of 35 reports of startup technology infringement were filed with the Ministry from 2021 to last month. By year, there were △5 in 2021 △6 in 2022 △10 in 2023 △12 in 2024, showing an annual increase. This year, 2 reports have been filed up to last month.
When a technology infringement report is filed, the Ministry investigates the facts and supports remedial activities if it is recognized as technology infringement.
During the same period, a total of 47 applications for technology dispute mediation and arbitration were recorded. By year, it decreased from 13 in 2021 to 7 in 2022, then increased again to 15 in 2023, and decreased to 10 last year. This year, 2 applications have been received up to last month.
Out of the 47 cases received, 45 have been concluded, and among them, 24 had mediation proposals presented. Out of the cases with mediation proposals, 16 were established, recording a mediation success rate of 66.7%.
A representative from Wint Administrative Office stated, "Technology infringement is a problem that weakens the innovative spirit of startups," and emphasized, "When startups suffer damage, they should actively utilize the technology infringement reporting and dispute mediation system to ensure swift remedy and response."
