White House: "Trump Open to Communication to End North Korean Nuclear Program"
On the 29th (local time), State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a briefing when asked by reporters about Deputy Director Kim's statement that "the personal relationship between the leaders of North Korea and the U.S. is not bad," "It is the same as what we saw during Trump's first term," she replied.
However, spokesperson Bruce avoided further comments, saying, "It is better to inquire with the White House regarding the relationship between the President and other (leaders)."
During his first term, President Trump met with Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, three times (Singapore, Vietnam Hanoi, Panmunjom). Both sides discussed North Korea's denuclearization and the lifting of sanctions against North Korea, but no results were achieved.
A White House official stated the previous day regarding Deputy Director Kim's statement that "negotiations between North Korea and the U.S. for denuclearization are impossible," "President Trump still wants to talk with Chairman Kim for North Korea's denuclearization and is still open to communicating with Chairman Kim to completely end North Korea's nuclear program."
