[Financial News] Semiconductor equipment company Shinsung E&G has initiated proactive heat illness prevention activities at all its worksites.
Shinsung E&G announced on the 30th that it is implementing heatwave countermeasures not only at major worksites such as Yongin, Jeungpyeong, and Gimje but also at various construction project sites.
Shinsung E&G is providing all employees with various cooling items such as neck scarves and neckbands in line with the Ministry of Employment and Labor's new five guidelines. Additionally, seasonal fruits like watermelon and energy drinks are always available at the worksites so that workers can replenish fluids and sugars at any time.
In particular, additional installation of perceived temperature thermometers along with hygrometers allows workers to check not only the simple temperature but also the actual perceived temperature in real-time, creating an environment where they can autonomously respond by assessing the heatwave risk.
A representative from Shinsung E&G stated, "Prevention of heat illnesses due to heatwaves is most important," adding, "We are enhancing the practical prevention effect by preparing differentiated countermeasures that consider the characteristics and working environment of each worksite, beyond merely following the government's five guidelines."
They further added, "In a situation where summer heatwaves are becoming more severe due to climate change, protecting the lives and health of workers is the company's top priority," and "We will continue to strengthen proactive and effective heat illness prevention measures in line with government policies."
Meanwhile, Shinsung E&G expanded its Environmental Safety Team to the Environmental Safety Business Division in 2017 and to the Environmental Safety Center in 2019, strengthening its safety and health organization. As a result, last year, the Gimje worksite won the grand prize at the 'Risk Assessment Best Practices Presentation' hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. It was also selected as an excellent workplace for health management by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
