[Financial News]  Chinese individuals attempting to take the Korean Language Proficiency Test using forged foreign registration cards have been repeatedly caught.
On the 30th, according to the police, a Chinese woman in her 30s, referred to as Ms. A, was caught and arrested on the spot by the police for presenting a forged foreign registration card to the proctor during the 101st Korean Language Proficiency Test held at Soongsil University in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, on the 13th.
It is reported that the police discovered evidence on Ms. A's smartphone of an agreement with a test broker to take the test on her behalf.
The Korean Language Proficiency Test is an exam that measures and evaluates the Korean language skills of overseas Koreans or foreigners who do not speak Korean as their native language. It is administered by the National Institute for International Education under the Ministry of Education and is used for university admissions, employment, and obtaining residence visas in Korea.
It has been reported that Chinese individuals using forged foreign registration cards to take proxy tests were also caught at Hansung University and Inje University.
The police are investigating whether there is an organization leading the proxy testing.
