However, the special prosecutor team says "No intention to lift the ban yet"
[Financial News] Kim Ye-seong, known as the butler of Kim Geon-hee, submitted a statement to the Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor team (Min Jung-gi special prosecutor) expressing willingness to cooperate if his wife's travel ban is lifted.
Special Prosecutor Assistant Moon Hong-ju stated on the 29th that Kim's side submitted the statement through a lawyer.
The statement includes △ a change of address for Kim's wife Jeong Mo △ a promise to cooperate if Jeong's travel ban is lifted, allowing Kim's travel ban to be lifted, and he will return for questioning. Kim, currently residing in Vietnam with his children, needs protection, and if Jeong's travel ban is lifted and she comes to Vietnam, Kim will return for questioning.
It is also reported that the 4.6 billion won related to Innovest Korea is unrelated to Mrs. Kim, and they plan to provide evidence to clarify the specific use.
However, the special prosecutor team currently has no intention to lift Jeong's travel ban. Special Prosecutor Assistant Moon stated, "The investigation on Jeong is not yet complete," and "the investigation team currently has no intention to lift the travel ban."
The 'Butler Gate' suspicion involves allegations that in 2023, Kim Geon-hee's 'butler' Kim participated in the establishment of IMS Mobility (Be My Car), and these companies invested. At that time, IMS Mobility was in a state of capital erosion with more liabilities than net assets, but received investments totaling 18.4 billion won from Shinhan Bank, Gyeongnam Steel, Kakao Mobility, HS Hyosung, and Korea Securities Finance.
Kim is also suspected of pocketing profits by selling shares worth over 4.6 billion won from the 18.4 billion won investment. The company used by Kim for this transaction is identified as Innovest Korea, where Kim's wife Jeong is the only registered director, raising suspicions that it might be a shell company owned by Kim. Jeong appeared for questioning at the special prosecutor team on the 23rd.
