'APEC Disaster Meeting' to be held in Incheon... Our country is the chair this year

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 29th that it will hold the '2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Disaster Meeting' at Songdo Convensia, Incheon from July 30 to August 1 to seek strategies to respond to the rapidly changing disaster environment.
The APEC Disaster Meeting is held annually on a rotating basis to strengthen international cooperation in the field of disaster risk reduction, and this year, our country will serve as the chair.
The agenda for this year's meeting is 'Promoting Disaster Risk Reduction in the Asia-Pacific Region: Partnerships for a Resilient and Prosperous Future.'
The meeting consists of the Emergency Preparedness Working Group Meeting (EPWG) and the Senior Disaster Management Officials Forum (SDMOF).
At the Emergency Preparedness Working Group Meeting (EPWG) held on July 30, various topics such as ▲ Digital-based disaster risk management cooperation strategies ▲ Community leadership for complex disaster response ▲ Case studies of regional disaster risk assessment ▲ Strengthening resilience capabilities will be shared among countries.
On July 31, the Senior Disaster Management Officials Forum (SDMOF) will discuss cooperation measures on topics such as ▲ Resilient response systems for emerging risks ▲ Bridging gaps in early warning systems ▲ Strengthening multi-layered governance for disaster management ▲ Utilizing technology for effective disaster leadership.
On August 1, visits to the Seoul Citizen Safety Experience Center and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Smart City Operation Center are scheduled.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the New Zealand National Emergency Management Agency for international cooperation in the field of disaster.
Yun Ho-jung, Minister of the Interior and Safety, said, "This APEC Disaster Meeting will be an opportunity to solidify the substance of international cooperation to respond to the rapidly changing disaster environment."
