The government is embarking on a project to select and open 15 types of high-value public data held by central ministries and public institutions as national key data.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 29th that it will hold the '2025 National Key Data Opening Integrated Launch Report Meeting' on the 30th.
The national key data opening project is a project to select and open public data with high demand from the public and companies and with significant social and economic impact.
This opening focuses on providing essential data for companies' service development and artificial intelligence (AI) learning to fulfill the new government's pledge to promote the opening of public data for corporate research and development support.
The 15 projects to be opened this year are largely divided into AI learning and corporate support.
For AI learning, it includes the Ministry of Legislation's central ministry legal interpretations and special administrative adjudication agency decisions, Korea Land and Housing Corporation's integrated management measurement data for special bridges, and Korea Western Power's renewable energy and power plant operation information.
These data are in high demand for AI service development in fields such as legal tech, sensor data, and unstructured data, and will be opened in a machine-readable format.
Data highly useful for the development of new services by SMEs and startups will also be opened.
Representative examples include the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's nationwide business license information and convenience information, Ulsan Port Authority's real-time ship operation information for Ulsan Port, Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation's expanded agricultural product distribution information service, and the Fire Department's building fire prevention and response facility information.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to safely open data that includes personal and sensitive information through synthetic data methods or authenticity verification services.
Additionally, data with high demand for AI development or continuous corporate demand will be selected as 'AI·High-Value Public Data Top 100' and opened with emphasis.
