KOSPI Fluctuates Around 3200... Samsung Electronics Profit-Taking Emerges [fn Morning Market]

[Financial News] KOSPI is fluctuating around the 3200 mark. Profit-taking emerged centered on Samsung Electronics, which surged the previous day, but foreign inflows are seen throughout the market. On the morning of the 29th, the KOSPI index is trading at 3208.13, down 1.39p (0.04%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 3192.17, down 0.54% from the previous session, and is continuing its battle around the 3200 mark.
In the securities market, individuals and foreigners are net buying 28.3 billion won and 74.7 billion won worth, respectively. Institutions are selling 146.7 billion won worth, trying to drag down the index.
By sector, publishing (2.66%), telecommunications equipment (2.53%), and building materials (1.52%) are strong, while steel (-1.88%) and chemicals (-1.56%) are weak.
The top stocks by market capitalization on KOSPI are mixed. Samsung Electronics (-0.14%), Hyundai Motor (-1.14%), and Naver (-0.85%) continue to weaken, while LG Energy Solution (2.37%), Samsung Biologics (1.12%), and Hanwha Aerospace (3.88%) are strong.
Overnight, the U.S. New York stock market closed mixed. On the 28th (local time), the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.14%. The S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq index rose 0.02% and 0.33%, respectively. Ji-won Kim, a researcher at KB Securities, explained, "The news of the EU tariff agreement is positive, but with the expiration of the mutual tariff suspension imminent, the market reaction was limited due to uncertainty about the progress of negotiations between major countries."
Ji-young Han, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, analyzed, "President Trump announced that he would impose a 15% tariff on countries with which negotiations have not been concluded, so the uncertainty of mutual tariffs is likely to remain high until August 1," adding, "The domestic stock market will continue to show differentiated trends by sector amid the wait-and-see sentiment regarding the Korea-U.S. negotiations."
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is trading at 804.03, down 0.37p (0.05%) from the previous session. The index started at 803.38, down 0.13%, and is moving in a slightly positive range.
By investor type, individuals are buying 67.8 billion won worth alone, while foreigners and institutions are selling 46.8 billion won and 15.1 billion won worth, respectively.
