[Financial News] Former President Yoon Seok-yeol is claimed to be "trapped in a living hell solitary cell where he cannot even write a book." Lawyer Shin Pyung, known as his 'political mentor', appealed, "Intervention from the US and Western countries is necessary."
Lawyer Shin stated on Facebook on the 27th, "I met former President Yoon on the 25th in the form of 'lawyer consultation'" and revealed, "The content I heard from him was surprise and pain itself."
Lawyer Shin reported, "Former President Yoon is currently confined in a narrow solitary cell of about 1.8 pyeong, relying on a cardboard base to eat and read the Bible without a desk or chair," and added, "Other intellectual activities are virtually impossible."
He defined this space as a 'living hell'. "Proper exercise is impossible, causing digestive problems, and he cannot move even when lying down at night," he said, "In short, it's an environment where a human cannot endure."
Nevertheless, he said, "Former President Yoon's face looked surprisingly clear and calm," and added, "I almost cried with sorrow on the way out after the meeting."
Lawyer Shin also targeted Democratic Party Floor Leader Kim Byung-gi. "I want to ask if Floor Leader Kim's statement that 'he should die in prison' was made with this reality in mind," he criticized, "At this level, it really is an environment where that statement could become a reality."
He claimed, "Former President Yoon did not want this content to be known outside, but I could not bear it," and insisted, "This is not an individual's problem. The US and Western countries must intervene to rectify this situation."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice stated in the past regarding the detention environment of former President Yoon, "He is treated under the same standards as general inmates," and explained, "Outdoor exercise is possible for up to one hour a day, and a fan is installed in the solitary cell."
