[Financial News] Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun, who is about to visit the US for Korea-US tariff negotiations, has been communicating with foreign ministers of China and Japan before his departure.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 28th, Minister Cho had his first phone call with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, after his inauguration. It is also reported that Minister Cho will visit Japan before going to the US to engage in multilateral diplomacy.
 In the call with Wang Yi on the afternoon of the same day, Minister Cho exchanged opinions on mutual interests, including Korea-China bilateral relations. Minister Cho requested Wang Yi's visit to Korea, and Wang Yi responded that he would visit Korea at a convenient time for both sides. Both sides reaffirmed the consensus to continue the mature development of the Korea-China strategic cooperative partnership. Additionally, through the Gyeongju Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, the two countries agreed to maintain a positive flow of high-level exchanges to create a new momentum for the development of Korea-China relations.
Minister Cho is also coordinating a meeting with Taro Kono, Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, before visiting the US. The foreign ministers of Korea and Japan already had their first phone call on the 24th. According to Japan's Kyodo News on the same day, Minister Cho will visit Japan on the 29th to discuss issues and cooperation plans between Korea and Japan. Minister Cho is also expected to explore 'know-how' by sharing Japan's strategy and experience in the already concluded US-Japan trade negotiations.
