No Prosecution for Obstruction of Business Charges
[Financial News] Former Broadcasting and Communications Review Committee Chair Ryu Hee-rim, who is under suspicion of 'complaint instigation', has been forwarded to the prosecution on charges of violating the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act.
Seoul Yangcheon Police Station announced on the 28th that Ryu was forwarded to the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office on the 21st for charges of violating the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act. The charges of obstruction of business through complaint instigation were dismissed as not guilty.
Previously, Ryu was accused of having family and acquaintances file complaints to review reports citing Newstapa's 'Kim Man-bae-Shin Hak-rim false interview' and directly participating in the review process. When this became known, there were also allegations that he conducted an audit citing personal information leaks to find the informant.
In response, civic groups such as the Democratic Party, the Citizens' Coalition for Democratic Media, and the National Union of Media Workers filed a complaint against Ryu with the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office for charges including violation of the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act and obstruction of business. The case was assigned to the Seoul Yangcheon Police Station, which has been investigating since last January.
