[Financial News] "Now, the speed of AI transition (AX) will determine the success or failure of a business. To promote AI proliferation, I will take on the role of Chief Diffusion Officer (CDO)."
According to LG Electronics on the 28th, Jo Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics, recently stated at the 'AX Talk Concert', a communication event for members themed on AX, "We must work in a better way with AI and the entire organization must create continuous change and evolution on that flow." He added, "As AI rapidly spreads as a core general-purpose technology leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is bringing changes not just to simple work methods but to the 'essence of work' itself."
LG Electronics has presented the AX vision of a 'fully digitalized LG Electronics', aiming to increase current work productivity by 30% within 2-3 years. The company predicts that the transition atmosphere will accelerate with CEO Jo's concurrent role as CDO.
At the event, AX cases being promoted in key areas were also introduced. A representative example is the self-generating AI data system 'Chadda', which drastically shortened the R&D speed with AI. According to LG Electronics, the AI-based data analysis function of Chadda reduced the data search time, which previously took about 3-5 days, to about 30 minutes.
LG Electronics explained, "To develop products optimized for the lifestyle patterns of each country, we conduct customer visits and surveys, but by using Chadda's data analysis beforehand, we can set and refine hypotheses, enabling faster product development."
Earlier this year in India, some refrigerators were equipped with 'hygiene and freshness functions'. Analyzing the refrigerator usage patterns of Indian consumers, it was found that they frequently open the doors, which could reduce food freshness due to the hot weather, so a function to maintain a constant internal temperature was added. In Brazil, a washing machine product was launched with the 'small rapid course' user experience (UX) sequence placed at the forefront. It was confirmed through Chadda that Brazilian users wash frequently but in small amounts, and this was applied to the product.
LG Electronics is currently expanding the data analysis range of Chadda to include not only structured data but also complex development and patent documents, technical reports, and other unstructured data. By connecting AI agents to the R&D process, the company plans to support developers in solving problems more efficiently.
The usage methods and future development directions of 'Elgini', which is expanding from a simple internal chatbot to a work AI agent platform, were also introduced. First introduced in 2018, Elgini has evolved from supporting simple tasks such as welfare guidance, regulation checks, and voucher processing to becoming a core digital asset of LG Electronics with the integration of AI technology. Elgini incorporates various generative AIs, including LG AI Research's Exaone, Microsoft's Azure AI service, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and Google's Gemini. Through this, it supports advanced functions focused on practical work, such as knowledge search, document summarization, translation and interpretation, code analysis and enhancement, idea generation, and information interpretation.
LG Electronics stated, "Elgini handles over 700,000 work interactions per month," and "the translation function, which supports 71 languages, automatically processes more than 1200 hours of interpretation and over 120,000 documents per month."
