[Financial News] Donald Trump, the President of the United States, visited Scotland on the 26th and enjoyed golf at his Turnberry course, reigniting the 'cheating golf' controversy.
On the 27th (local time), after a video of Trump's golf scene was uploaded to American social network services (SNS), foreign media such as the Daily Mail and Mirror reported, "The suspicious actions of the caddy were caught on camera, revealing Trump's cheating play."
The Daily Mail introduced the video as showing the President of the United States and real estate tycoon visiting his golf course in Europe to enjoy his favorite sport.
The video captures a 'moment of cheating' where a caddy from Trump's party helps him in an unauthorized manner.
The video, seemingly filmed inside a building, shows Trump appearing in a golf cart on the Turnberry fairway. Ahead is a bunker, and to the left, long grass can be seen.
Then, a caddy quickly approaches Trump and tosses a golf ball onto the grass in front of the bunker. The caddy walks naturally, only extending his hand backward to drop the ball so that others do not notice. Trump nonchalantly gets out of the cart to hit the ball as if nothing happened.
Earlier this year, Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson accused Trump of cheating when the two played a game together.
At the time, when asked by the media "Who is the better golfer?" Jackson replied, "I don't cheat." In response, Trump denied Jackson's claim on SNS, saying, "I have never played with Jackson at a golf course."
Sports journalist Rick Reilly also wrote in a 2019 article for the Sunday Times, "Caddies have nicknamed Trump 'Pele' because he kicks the ball too often to move it to a better position."
X users who watched the video posted mocking comments such as "Watch closely. The caddy drops the ball for him. Trump has to cheat even at his own golf course," and "This is how Trump wins the club championship 30 times."
