[Financial News]  A man in his 60s, who killed his son with a homemade gun after hosting a birthday party, is reportedly denying additional charges of attempted murder.

According to the police on the 28th, the Incheon Yeonsu Police Station summoned Mr. A (62), who was arrested on charges including murder, for a two-hour investigation in the afternoon.

The police focused on questioning Mr. A about his specific motive for the crime and whether there was an additional murder attempt during the investigation.

The police completed the third investigation on the 25th by summoning Mr. A and conducted two more investigations on the 26th, proceeding with the sixth investigation until today.

Mr. A reportedly denied the attempted murder charge during the police investigation, stating, "I intended to kill only my son."

The police additionally applied the charge of attempted murder to Mr. A, who was previously arrested for murder, violation of laws related to the safety management of firearms, swords, and explosives, and preparation for arson of an inhabited building.

The police believe that Mr. A intended to kill not only his son B (33, deceased) but also four others present at the scene, including his daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and a friend of his daughter-in-law (a foreign home tutor).

Earlier, Mr. A initially stated that he committed the crime due to family discord during the early investigation, but later claimed during a profiler's investigation that "I was registered as an employee at the family company and received a salary of about 3 million won a month, but the payment stopped at some point last year."

However, the bereaved family refuted this claim, stating, "Mr. A also received living expenses from his ex-wife and support from his son."

To verify the conflicting statements, the police obtained a search and seizure warrant related to Mr. A on the 25th and are examining financial accounts.

Mr. A is reportedly maintaining his stance that he committed the crime due to family discord and financial difficulties.

The police plan to confirm Mr. A's specific crime plan timing or motive based on portal site search records, medical records, and call contents obtained with the search and seizure warrant.

A police official stated, "Not all seized items have been transferred yet," adding, "Depending on the situation, Mr. A may be summoned for further investigation."

The National Police Agency launched an inspection on the 26th to investigate whether there were any shortcomings in the initial response to this incident.

At the time of the incident, B's wife urgently requested emergency assistance from 112 while hurriedly evacuating with her children into a room at 9:31 p.m. on the 20th.

After receiving the report, the police officer issued the 'Code 0' (the highest emergency level in the manual) for the quickest dispatch order, but it was confirmed that the commanding officer (situation manager) at the jurisdictional police station did not arrive at the scene for over 70 minutes.

The situation manager at the time was unaware of the internal manual requiring dispatch to the scene and only arrived after the police special forces entered at 10:43 p.m.

A National Police Agency official stated, "We cannot confirm the investigation schedule and scope."

Mr. A is accused of shooting and killing Mr. B with a homemade gun at his 33rd-floor apartment in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, at 9:31 p.m. on the 20th.

At Mr. A's home in Dobong-gu, Seoul, 15 containers of flammable materials such as PET bottles containing thinner and detergent bottles, as well as an ignition device, were found, and it was investigated that a fire timer was set for noon on the 21st, the day after the murder.
