Hongcheon Chalok Corn Festival Ends Successfully Amidst Popularity... "Nationwide Taste Sensation and Price Hit"

【Financial News Hongcheon=Kim Gi-seop Reporter】The 29th Hongcheon Chalok Corn Festival, a representative agricultural festival of Hongcheon-gun, ended successfully after a successful run.
The Hongcheon Chalok Corn Festival, held in the parking lot of the Hongcheon Sports Complex, announced its opening on the 25th with beautiful vocal music, and added special meaning with the awards ceremony for the Corn King and Chalok Corn Brewing Contest, along with a nationwide start performance of 'Yongmun-Hongcheon Metropolitan Railway Attraction'.
Especially this year, despite the record-breaking heatwave with the highest temperature reaching 38 degrees on the day of the event, visitors who have consistently loved Hongcheon Chalok Corn continued to visit, reaffirming the hot enthusiasm.
From the first day of the opening, the venue was packed with tourists from other regions, military personnel, and Hongcheon residents, and the Hongcheon County Cooperative Management Council expressed gratitude to those who visited the event despite the heat by providing 1kg of Hongcheon rice as a gift when purchasing Chalok Corn worth more than 50,000 won.
The sale of Chalok Corn was operated by Hongcheon, Hwachon, Seohongcheon, Yeongguimi Agricultural Cooperatives, and separately, food booths that entered the event showcased creative corn menus such as corn bread, corn shaved ice, corn latte, and corn-flavored seaweed snacks, receiving great response.


Hongcheon-gun and the Hongcheon Cultural Foundation doubled the number of heat shelters compared to last year and set up shade tents, large fans, and mist fountains throughout the festival venue to prepare for the heatwave.
Additionally, they made efforts such as providing cool sleeves, fans, towels, and distributing card news for heatwave preparation, and this thorough preparation received positive responses from visitors, further enhancing the satisfaction of the festival.
On the second day of the festival, the 26th, the Youth Comprehensive Festival 'Show Your Stage' was held, where youths with potential and talent in various fields such as singing, dancing, and instrument playing lit up the stage with overflowing energy.
On the last day of the event, the 27th, the preliminary round of the 3rd Hongcheon River Starlight National Song Festival was held, where skilled participants from all over the country competed fiercely, and the final selected participants obtained tickets to perform on the main stage of the Hongcheon River Starlight Music Beer Festival held on August 3.
In addition, visitor-centered events such as corn eating contests, corn catching, and corn weight guessing, as well as the 'Happiness of 10,000 Won' event using Hongcheon specialty pumpkin, tourist information centers, Moru doll making, and natural dyeing provided rich experience opportunities while minimizing physical exhaustion in the heat, increasing visitor satisfaction.
Furthermore, the 'Oksigi Stop' service, which delivers Chalok Corn to vehicles, and a shuttle bus for the transportation disadvantaged operated nine times a day, further enhancing visitor convenience with thoughtful consideration.
Jeon Myeong-jun, Chairman of the Hongcheon Cultural Foundation, said, "Thank you to all the visitors who came to the festival despite the hot weather," and "Next year, we will prepare the festival more thoroughly by securing Chalok Corn supplies and devising plans to attract visitors in preparation for the heatwave."
Meanwhile, following the Hongcheon Chalok Corn Festival, the Hongcheon River Starlight Music Beer Festival will be held from July 30 to August 3.
