[Financial News] S-OIL announced on the 27th that the number of customers who have received the 'Electronic Receipt Linked Carbon Neutral Point Service', the first of its kind in the domestic oil refining industry, has surpassed 100,000. The cumulative number of point issuances has reached 1.53 million.
The service has been operated in collaboration with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute since March 2023. A carbon neutral point of 100 won is awarded per electronic receipt, and up to 70,000 won can be accumulated annually. It is known that reducing one paper receipt can cut about 1.7g of carbon and 0.7g of waste.
S-OIL has strengthened accessibility to electronic receipt issuance and point accumulation through its mobile app 'MY S-OIL'. The number of app-based electronic receipt issuances increased from 190,000 in 2023 to 1.53 million this year, more than an 8-fold increase, and the number of app installers expanded from 440,000 to 870,000 during the same period. The number of gas stations where the service is available surged from 351 to 1,700.
Electronic receipts have a lower risk of personal information leakage compared to paper receipts, and consumers can easily check fueling records and bonus points on the app, enhancing convenience. The ability to use the 'Quick Refuel' function without a physical card is also receiving positive feedback.
An S-OIL representative stated, "We will continue to promote the expansion of electronic receipt usage, considering resource savings and customer convenience, and strive to practice communication with customers and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management."
Meanwhile, carbon neutral points can be accumulated by selecting electronic receipt reception in the MY S-OIL app and then registering as a member on the carbon neutral point website.
