[Financial News] Samsung Electronics has strengthened its global security competitiveness by obtaining the European Union (EU) Radio Equipment Directive (RED) cybersecurity certification.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 27th that it has received certification from TÜV SÜD, a German testing and certification organization, for all 2025 model TV and monitor product lines exported to Europe that meet RED regulations.
RED is an EU regulation related to the cybersecurity of wireless equipment, providing guidelines on health and safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and efficient use of radio frequencies. Security provisions such as △network security △privacy protection △fraud prevention were additionally enforced in 2022.
The EU mandates compliance with RED requirements for products with wireless network functions starting this August. Through this RED certification, Samsung Electronics has secured the highest level of security reliability by meeting international security standards and wireless communication safety.
Samsung Electronics is continuously striving to meet the strengthening global security requirements. Last year, its self-developed encryption module 'CryptoCore' obtained the FIPS 140-3 certification, a representative international encryption module certification recognized in 10 countries worldwide, from the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology. This encryption module will be applied to Samsung Electronics' operating system Tizen OS from this year, further enhancing the security of major products such as TVs, monitors, and signage.
Additionally, Samsung Electronics has been applying the security solution 'Samsung Knox' to smart TVs since 2015 and has achieved the CC certification for 10 consecutive years. The CC certification is an international standard for evaluating the security of information technology (IT) products, recognized by 31 countries worldwide.
Son Tae-yong, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Visual Display Business Division, said, "As the connectivity of various devices in the industry is strengthened, the importance of security certification is highlighted," and "We will continue to showcase products with security and technical capabilities in the global market." soup@fnnews.com Lim Soo-bin Reporter
