Improvement of Working Conditions for Field Officials
[Financial News]
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 25th that it will expand the limit of overtime allowances for local government officials in charge of the livelihood recovery consumption coupon task.
The measure is to ensure that frontline officials, whose workload has surged due to the distribution of consumption coupons, receive fair compensation.
This is also to address the on-site suggestion made when Minister Yun Ho-jung of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety visited the Siheung 1-dong Community Center in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, to check the status of consumption coupon distribution the previous day.
Currently, the overtime allowance for local government officials is generally paid within a limit of 4 hours per day and 57 hours per month, but in the case of unavoidable urgent tasks, it can be extended to 8 hours per day and 100 hours per month at the discretion of the head of the local government.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has issued guidelines to each local government to actively utilize the expanded overtime allowance limit to improve the working conditions of officials in charge of consumption coupon tasks and community center officials.
However, considering the long duration of the project and the many related departments, the exception to the limit and the period will be applied at the discretion of the local government.
Vice Minister Kim Min-jae of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said, "We thank the field officials who are dedicated to ensuring the successful progress of the livelihood recovery consumption coupon project," and added, "We will cooperate with local governments to ensure fair compensation for the hard work of officials."
