Presidential Office "National Interest First Principle, Agricultural Products Also Included in Negotiation Items"

[Financial News] The presidential office stated on the 25th regarding the Korea-US tariff negotiations, "The government will do its best to derive negotiation results that can be mutually beneficial between Korea and the US under the principle of prioritizing national interest through close consultation with the local negotiation team."
Yongbeom Kim, the Chief Policy Officer of the Presidential Office, held a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on this day and said, "We received a report on the negotiation results of our delegation in the US and discussed future response plans based on this," he said.
On the 24th (local time), Jeonggwan Kim, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Hankoo Yeo, the Head of Trade Negotiations Headquarters, met with Howard Lutnick, the US Secretary of Commerce, to discuss in depth the ways to conclude tariff negotiations, including strengthening Korea-US manufacturing cooperation.
Chief Kim explained, "We reaffirmed the importance of mutual cooperation in strategic manufacturing sectors, including shipbuilding and semiconductors, and decided to concretize cooperation plans in the future," and "reconfirmed the will to derive mutually beneficial settlement plans before August 1st."
Our side emphasized the importance of manufacturing cooperation between the two countries and strongly requested the US to reduce tariffs on items such as automobiles and mutual tariffs. Chief Kim reported, "The Minister of Industry and the Head of Trade Negotiations Headquarters will continue to stay in the US and have additional consultations with Jamison Greer, the US Trade Representative, and Secretary Lutnick on July 25th US local time." Chief Kim also added that agricultural products are included in the negotiation items.
