【Financial News Jeonju=Kang In Reporter】 Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province is focusing on expanding transportation infrastructure.
According to Jeonbuk Province on the 27th, they have officially started building the metropolitan transportation network in the Jeonju area, taking the recently amended 'Special Act on Metropolitan Transportation Management in Large City Areas' as an opportunity.
The plan is to expand mobility rights through transportation infrastructure improvements that residents can feel and to play a role as a driving force for balanced regional development.
With the opening of national funding support for major metropolitan transportation infrastructure projects such as metropolitan roads (50%), metropolitan railways (70%), BRT (50%), and transfer centers (30%), Jeonbuk's transportation innovation is expected to begin in earnest.
Jeonbuk Province is steadily preparing institutional procedures such as reflecting major SOC (Social Overhead Capital) projects in the national plan and conducting preliminary feasibility studies, and is gradually embarking on transportation infrastructure improvements.
In the expressway sector, the expansion project for the Gimje~Samnye section of the Honam Expressway has begun detailed design, and the Saemangeum~Jeonju Expressway is in the final stages of construction, aiming for completion within the year. The Noeul Bridge (Haeri~Byeonsan), a key road axis connecting the west coast of Jeonbuk and the Byeonsan area of Buan, completed total project cost negotiations last February and is scheduled for a bid announcement, entering the stage of full-scale project commencement.
The sky routes are also gradually expanding. Since last May, the Gunsan~Jeju route has increased to three flights per day, significantly improving travel convenience, and Saemangeum International Airport is set to begin construction in November after completing the environmental impact assessment in the second half of the year.
In the railway sector, the Jeolla Line high-speed project has been selected as a preliminary feasibility study project, and the Ministry of Strategy and Finance's preliminary feasibility study is currently underway. The basic plan for the Saemangeum Port access railway is being developed. Once the railway network is fully established, it is expected to play a central role as a strategic axis connecting Jeonbuk's key hubs into a single living area.
A Jeonbuk Province official stated, "Through the construction of SOC infrastructure and transportation system innovation, we will strengthen the future foundation of the region and create changes in life that residents can feel."
