[Financial News] The Presidential Office is preparing measures to strengthen the Personnel Committee, chaired by Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik, to enhance transparency and fairness in the overall personnel process.
Kang Yoo-jung, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, held a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 24th, stating, "To ensure fairness in positions appointed by the President, we are operating a Personnel Committee chaired by the Chief of Staff, and recently, we are preparing to strengthen the committee's functions as part of procedural improvements."
Spokesperson Kang said, "Although personnel verification has been conducted according to legal procedures, we are willing to actively accept and improve parts that do not meet public expectations," adding, "In particular, while in the past we did not examine candidates' books or expressions, we will expand the review scope to include such aspects in the future."
Some interpret that the recent controversy over the selection of certain secretaries may have influenced this decision. Regarding this, Spokesperson Kang said, "Personnel appointments in the Presidential Office have been carried out appropriately according to established standards and processes, but the need for procedural improvements has been raised, so we are preparing to strengthen the committee."
Regarding the composition or operation method of the Personnel Committee, "Although operational regulations are in place, not everything is disclosed," he said, "This issue has also been operated confidentially in previous governments."
