Korea Institute of Design Promotion, Begins Accepting Applications for Excellent Design Specialist Companies

[Financial News]  Korea Institute of Design Promotion announced on the 24th that it will accept applications for the '2025 Excellent Design Specialist Companies Selection Project' until August 27.
This project aims to promote the continuous growth of excellent design companies and enhance the competitiveness of the industry as a whole. Korea Institute of Design Promotion comprehensively evaluates design expertise, management capabilities, and global competitiveness to discover and select leading and promising companies.
The target applicants are companies registered as industrial design specialist companies according to Article 9 of the Industrial Design Promotion Act. Applications can be made according to the requirements for leading and promising companies.
The conditions for leading companies are at least 7 years since establishment, an average annual sales of 1 billion KRW or more over the past 3 years, and at least 5 design professionals. The conditions for promising companies are less than 7 years since establishment, an average annual sales of 200 million KRW or more over the past 3 years, and at least 2 design professionals.
This year, the plan is to select around 20 excellent design specialist companies. The validity period of the selection is 2 years from the date of award.
Selected companies will receive benefits such as △ additional points when applying for major support projects of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion △ support for exhibition participation and production of promotional content △ promotion through major media and promotional channels △ recommendation as a performing agency for related institution projects.
The selection process consists of a first document evaluation and a second presentation evaluation, comprehensively evaluating quantitative indicators such as design achievements and export performance, and non-quantitative indicators. In particular, to enhance the fairness and professionalism of the evaluation, a judging panel composed of external experts in various fields such as design, management, and accounting will participate.
The final selection results will be announced in October. Selected companies will be awarded a certificate and trophy during the 'Design Korea' event scheduled for November.
