[Financial News] Hanwha Ocean has implemented a record high base salary increase.
Hanwha Ocean announced on the 24th that the labor and management successfully concluded the 2025 wage negotiations.
The base salary, including promotion and upgrade increments of 23,262 won, is 123,262 won. The lump sum is 5.2 million won. Family allowances are 15,000 won (spouse) and 10,000 won (child) respectively. The field allowance was increased by 10,000 won per rank. A new job environment allowance was established, providing 10,000 to 50,000 won. There is also a one-year contract employment after retirement for those born in 1965. There is also a special day off due to the conclusion of labor-management negotiations.
Hanwha Ocean explained that by concluding the wage negotiations before the summer vacation, they were able to secure a stable production environment for the second half of the year. They achieved the result of eliminating the wage gap with the same industry and establishing a wage system at the same level. A compensation system according to job difficulty was also established, taking the first step towards an advanced job compensation system.
The record high base salary increase is noteworthy as it effectively eliminates the wage gap with the same industry. The base salary increase is expected to have a positive effect not only on boosting the morale of Hanwha Ocean members but also on retaining personnel.
A new job compensation system according to job difficulty was also established. The discussions between labor and management over the past 10 years have resulted in actual achievements. This is significant as it marks the starting point for establishing a fair compensation system that respects the 'value of work', not just a simple wage increase.
A Hanwha Ocean official stated, "This year's collective bargaining was a valuable achievement created through mutual respect and continuous communication between labor and management," and added, "We will continue to lead the way in strengthening the company's global competitiveness through labor-management cooperation."
Meanwhile, in the union members' vote on the 24th, the negotiation proposal agreed upon by labor and management was finalized with 61.7% approval for this year's wage negotiations.
