Yun Ho-jung, Minister of the Interior and Safety, instructed on the 24th to ensure that vulnerable groups are not exposed due to the indication of amounts or card color distinction when receiving consumption coupons as prepaid cards.
He emphasized that the government's goal should be to guarantee a basic life where the public can enjoy a safe and happy daily life, and urged local governments close to the field to reflect local voices in policies.
Minister Yun stated this at the '5th Central Local Policy Council' held with deputy heads of 17 cities and provinces nationwide at the Government Complex Seoul, urging local officials to take responsibility with the attitude of 'Jigong Musa' (extremely fair and selfless) in disaster recovery and management.
'Jigong Musa' is a four-character idiom meaning extremely fair and selfless.
Minister Yun said, "Our society is one with too many deaths from disasters, industrial accidents, and suicides," adding, "Central and local governments must work together to find ways to protect each individual's daily life and happiness."
At the meeting, discussions were held on the smooth execution of the livelihood recovery consumption coupons, which will start receiving applications from the 21st of this month, as well as on cooperation at the local government level and support measures from the central government to enhance resident convenience through support like the 'visiting application' service.
Minister Yun instructed to ensure that vulnerable groups are not exposed due to the indication of amounts or card color distinction when receiving consumption coupons as prepaid cards.
He also emphasized more meticulous consideration for public rights and convenience by re-checking application documents, payment methods, and promotional materials from the public's perspective.
He ordered thorough situation management centered on deputy heads and the operation of tailored safety nets to ensure that vulnerable groups are not excluded in the prevention, response, and recovery processes of disasters.
Additionally, he urged for quick daily recovery and prevention of secondary damage for residents affected by recent heavy rains, and requested cooperation in strengthening publicity related to fire prevention inspections of old apartments and proactive safety measures, as well as resident registration fact-checking.
