[Financial News] Hyundai Construction announced on the 24th that it has successfully completed the 'K Square Data Center Gasan', a 3-story underground to 11-story above-ground building in Gasan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. This project was promoted as a strategy to respond to the expansion of digital demand and strengthen urban infrastructure.
This center is a project invested and developed by Koramco Asset Management, which started construction in July 2022 and was completed with a total floor area of 41,214㎡. It is built as an urban data center with advanced facilities concentrated in a limited space, surrounded by existing buildings on both sides and adjacent to a railway on one side.
Considering its proximity to the railway, a reinforced concrete (RC) structure with high vibration reduction performance and slurry wall method were applied, and the 'Strut-Topdown (STD)' method, which constructs above-ground and underground frames simultaneously, was introduced to minimize space constraints. In addition, a high-efficiency cooling system, natural cooling-based pre-cooling technology, and a real-time energy monitoring system were applied to improve energy efficiency.
Hyundai Construction presented a customized construction strategy that comprehensively reflects the client's requirements and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems through 'Preconstruction Services (PCS)', participating from the planning and design stages.
Previously, Hyundai Construction has constructed the Financial Settlement Center in Bundang in 2004, KT Mokdong IDC, NH·KB Kookmin Bank Integrated IT Center, Naver Data Center, and has experience in constructing data centers for global big tech companies.
A Hyundai Construction official said, "We are strengthening our competitiveness in data center orders based on accumulated capabilities from design to construction and commissioning," and added, "In the future, we plan to promote data center supply tailored to regional energy sources and the introduction of SMR (Small Modular Reactor) based power systems."
