The National Planning Committee announced on the 23rd that it plans to propose the promotion of 'Mandatory National Support for the Issuance of Local Love Gift Certificates' as a rapid task to the presidential office.
Previously, the bill was discarded due to the exercise of veto power by the president during the previous administration of Yoon Seokyeol, but it was reintroduced in the 22nd National Assembly and passed the Administrative Safety Committee on the 10th and the Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 22nd.
The amendment includes mandatory administrative and financial support from the state and local governments for the stable operation of local love gift certificates, and the establishment of grounds for additional support for areas with declining populations.
If the bill passes, it is expected to establish an institutional foundation for regional economy and balanced development policies.
Lee Haesik, head of the political and administrative division of the National Planning Committee, stated, "Local love gift certificates will breathe life into the regional economy, playing a significant role in boosting local consumption and supporting small businesses," and added, "The National Planning Committee will work closely with the National Assembly and the ruling party to ensure the swift passage of the bill in line with President Lee Jaemyung's pledge."
