[Financial News] "Today, we go to the flood-affected area in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam instead of the hospital to treat the victims."
Busan On Hospital Group has started home visit services in the Sancheong-gun area, where an unprecedented evacuation order was issued due to extreme heavy rain, treating a total of about 100 flood victims.
Additionally, the accompanying Green Doctors volunteer group delivered essentials like ramen and clothes to the flood victims and offered consolation.
Under the Busan On Hospital Group, On Hospital (Director Kim Dong-heon, former Director of Busan National University Hospital) and the international medical volunteer organization Green Doctors Foundation (Chairman Jeong Geun) dispatched the 'Sancheong-gun Flood Area Emergency Medical Volunteer Group' consisting of 40 people, including 18 medical staff (8 doctors, 10 nurses) and 12 Green Doctors volunteers, to the site on Wednesday the 23rd at 9 a.m., when a heatwave warning was issued, to carry out emergency medical care activities for the victims.
This 'Sancheong-gun Flood Area Emergency Medical Volunteer Group' included Kim Dong-heon, the hospital director (former chief professor of surgery at Busan National University Medical School), Jeon Ki-hwan, the medical director (internal medicine specialist), Kim Tae-wan, the deputy director (surgery specialist), Kim Yong-seop, the chief (pediatrics specialist), Park Young-hong, the chief (honorary professor at Inje University Medical School), Lee Ji-young, the head of the medical department (oriental medicine doctor), Park So-yeon, the chief (oriental medicine doctor), and Chairman Jeong Geun of Green Doctors, an ophthalmologist.
The main medical staff of this volunteer group were composed of doctors from On Rehabilitation Hospital because most of the victims are elderly, and it was judged that doctors with rich experience in elderly care would be more helpful. A mobile general hospital is essentially moving to Sancheong.
Moreover, since most of the victims are elderly, it was judged that finding veins for IV injections would be difficult, so veteran nurses from the hospital joined the support team. Nurses from On Rehabilitation Hospital, such as Chief Nurse Joo Mi-seon, Team Leader Joo Myung-hee, Acting Team Leader Park Ki-tae, Head Nurse Kang Kyung-hee, and experts from On Hospital like Team Leader Lee Soo-hyun, Special Team Leader Park Mi-sook, Infection Control Team Leader Joo Ye-na, Acting Head Nurse Kim Sun-hee, Acting Head Nurse Park Kyung-hee, and Senior Manager Yoon Young-shim, administered nutrient injections to the victims.
Vice Chairman Kim Seung-hee, Secretary-General Park Myung-soon, Director Choi Chan-il, Deputy Secretary-General Kwon So-hyun, and Song Jeong-gwan from Green Doctors also participated in this Sancheong-gun emergency medical support team.

The Sancheong-gun medical volunteer team carried out emergency medical support activities in two places, Saengbiryang-myeon and Sancheong-eup, in the morning and afternoon. Saengbiryang-myeon experienced 90mm of heavy rain in one hour from 3 to 4 p.m. on the 17th, with a daily accumulated rainfall exceeding 320mm. As a result, blueberry and banana greenhouses were flooded, causing significant damage. In particular, these specialty crops, once damaged, cannot generate income for three years, leaving the victims deeply worried.
Sancheong-eup also suffered from extreme heavy rain, with soil and trees being swept into homes along with muddy water, damaging houses, and in Buri, landslides buried homes, resulting in three people missing.
Upon arriving at the first service area, Saengbiryang-myeon, around 11 a.m., an emergency clinic was set up in the gymnasium of Saengbiryang Elementary School, and medical activities began.
In the gymnasium of Saengbiryang Elementary School, 20 households of flood victims were living in tents due to the recent flood. Most residents left the tents to participate in flood recovery, leaving only the elderly to guard the tents with concern.
The flood victims were still terrified by the unprecedented heavy rain they experienced for the first time in their lives, and they mainly complained of headaches or stomachaches due to this stress. On Hospital medical staff visited each tent to provide medical care and acupuncture treatment.
Additionally, upon hearing the news that medical volunteers had come from Busan, residents of Saengbiryang-myeon began to visit during lunchtime.
For the flood victims who completed outpatient treatment, the emergency medical support team prescribed high-quality nutrients to help them quickly regain their strength.
On Hospital Director Kim Dong-heon said, "Seeing the flood damage on site was beyond imagination," and appealed to the authorities, "The trauma treatment for the flood victims, who still shudder at the thought of the turbulent valley waters, must be urgently addressed."
After a simple lunch, the On Hospital Group Sancheong-gun Emergency Medical Support Team set up temporary clinics at Sancheong Middle School and Naeri Community Center in Sancheong-eup at 2 p.m. The On Hospital medical staff were busy comforting the flood victims, who were overwhelmed by the daunting flood recovery.
Green Doctors, in a rush to provide emergency medical support in Sancheong-gun, delivered 80 emergency medical kits, which were used and stored during the Myanmar earthquake, to the flood victims. The emergency medical kits contained anti-inflammatory painkillers, comprehensive cold medicine, hemostatic ointment, digestive medicine, liquid patches, bandages, patches, masks, and other essential emergency medical supplies.
Green Doctors also delivered 30 boxes of ramen, 10 boxes of 20-pack wet tissues, 10 bundles of 30-roll toilet paper, 50 boxes of women's clothing, and a donation of 5 million won.
Green Doctors Foundation Chairman Jeong Geun said, "As my hometown is Sancheong, it was heartbreaking to see the tragic flood scenes on television news," and urged, "I hope the central and local governments will do their best to help the elderly in my hometown, who are more mentally than physically hurt, quickly shake off their worries and return to a healthy daily life."
