[Financial News] Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, a specialized bio research institution in Korea, and Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, a leading research institution in the field of chemistry and related convergence technologies, have decided to join forces for innovation in the advanced bio field.
Saengmyeongyeon and Chemical Research announced that they signed a business agreement for the designation of a joint cooperation center and research cooperation at the main office of Saengmyeongyeon in Daejeon on the 23rd.
This agreement was concluded to break down the boundaries between traditional technology areas and to pursue innovative approaches through free knowledge exchange and convergence cooperation, as securing national strategic technology and building a dynamic innovation ecosystem have emerged as urgent tasks amid intensifying global technology hegemony competition.
The goal is to create a more dynamic and organic research cooperation ecosystem by removing barriers between government-funded research institutes that possess stable research infrastructure and long-accumulated technical know-how.
Through this agreement, Saengmyeongyeon and Chemical Research plan to designate a joint cooperation center in the advanced bio field and actively promote personnel exchanges and joint research based on this. It is expected that by strengthening mutual cooperation in areas such as next-generation drug development, infectious diseases, and carbon dioxide capture and utilization (CCU), which Saengmyeongyeon and Chemical Research have been pursuing together, they will lead innovation in the advanced bio field.
Director Lee Young-guk of Chemical Research said, "It is significant in that we have laid the foundation for systematic and sustainable joint research centered on the cooperation center," and "With the experience of continuing cooperation in the joint development of PROTAC anticancer drugs and the Global TOP Strategy Research Group project, we expect even closer and more active cooperation to be achieved with this agreement."
Director Kwon Seok-yun of Saengmyeongyeon said, "The designation of this joint cooperation center is a great opportunity to create a strong synergy by bringing together the technologies and infrastructure accumulated by both institutions in the advanced bio field," and "By overcoming the barriers between government-funded research institutes and establishing a more flexible and organic cooperation model, it will be an important turning point for Korea to gain global competitiveness in the advanced bio field."
