According to the Hongcheon Cultural Foundation on the 23rd, targeting the peak holiday season, they plan to establish Hongcheon-gun as the mecca of summer festivals by holding the Chaloksusu Festival from the 25th to the 27th and the Beer Festival from the 30th to August 3rd.
The Hongcheon Chaloksusu Festival plans to increase the number of heat shelters to a total of two, compared to last year, considering the rest and health of visitors, and install a hot and cold water dispenser near the operation headquarters to provide cool drinking water. A 'festival shuttle bus' will also run at one-hour intervals for the convenience of pedestrian visitors.
Additionally, they plan to install shade structures on the walkways inside the festival grounds to allow safe movement and secure emergency routes so that emergency vehicles can quickly move through crowded areas, expanding medical support personnel compared to last year.
In addition, they have carefully prepared to replace the existing 2.4m pillar Mongolian tents with 3m pillar Mongolian tents to ensure smooth air circulation and naturally expel rising heat. With the cooperation of the Hongcheon-gun Sports Association, they plan to utilize nearby facilities to create rest areas inside the festival grounds for visitors to use, and to lower the temperature around the festival grounds, they will install and operate mist fountains and large fans.
The Hongcheongang Starlight Music Beer Festival, opening on the 30th at Torisup, will introduce a 'Water Zone' where you can dip your feet in the water and enjoy beer, lowering the perceived temperature and becoming a new attraction of the festival.
Hongcheon-gun plans to help visitors lower their perceived temperature by distributing fans and cool scarves on a first-come, first-served basis, and by repairing the shade structures, maintaining the fountains, and checking the water quality at the Hongcheongang Starlight Music Beer Festival venue, Torisup.
Jeon Myeong-jun, Chairman of the Hongcheon Cultural Foundation, said, "As the rain stops and the full heat is predicted, we have thoroughly prepared measures against the heat so that all visitors can enjoy the festival safely and happily," and "We hope to create cool and pleasant summer festival memories in Hongcheon through various facilities such as heat shelters, mist fountains, and water zones."
