[Financial News] Korean men's golf is embarking on an unfinished challenge on the PGA Tour. Korean men's golf has not yet delivered a victory since Kim Joo-hyung lifted the championship trophy at the Shriners Children's Open in October 2023. As there has been no victory this year either, there is a desperate attempt to keep the 'last spark' alive in the final tournaments of the regular season.
On the 25th (Korea time), the 3M Open (total prize money of 8.4 million dollars) will be held in Blaine, Minnesota, USA, which is an important stage for that reason. Four Korean players will participate in this tournament held at TPC Twin Cities (par 71).
Im Sung-jae, Kim Si-woo, An Byeong-hun, and Kim Joo-hyung are the main players. They need to accumulate as many FedEx Cup points as possible in the remaining two regular season tournaments, including this one. Although the playoffs start immediately after the regular season ends, none of the four are in a comfortable position.
Even Im Sung-jae, who is in the highest position, is only at 29th in the FedEx Cup. Following him, Kim Si-woo is at 43rd, An Byeong-hun at 67th, and Kim Joo-hyung at 89th. The road to the final playoff event, the Tour Championship (FedEx Cup top 30), is tough. In particular, Kim Joo-hyung is in a challenging situation just to maintain his playoff entry. Although he has recorded three career wins and competed for the championship with Scheffler, the top-ranked player last year, he has only managed one top-10 finish this year.
