'Eojjeol Suga Eopda' is a new film directed by Park Chan-wook, depicting the struggles of a family head who loses his job in an instant and must take responsibility for their livelihood. The original work is the novel 'THE AX' by French writer Dominique Moll, a project the director has long dreamed of adapting into a film.
The film revolves around 'Yu Man-su', who is suddenly fired from his company and makes extreme choices to protect his family and struggles desperately for reemployment. Lee Byung-hun portrays Yu Man-su, depicting the desperation of life with intensity, while Son Ye-jin plays the role of a wife who silently supports her unemployed husband, portraying a realistic couple.
After filming, the two actors shared their thoughts. Lee Byung-hun said, "The creative conversations exchanged with director Park Chan-wook left a deep impression," and "It's rare to have such an anticipated work." Son Ye-jin said, "I was so immersed that I didn't realize how time passed. It was an honor to participate as a fan," and "I am eagerly waiting for the day the finished work meets the audience."
'Eojjeol Suga Eopda' is scheduled to be released in theaters this September. Expectations are high for the synergy that Son Ye-jin, Lee Byung-hun, and director Park Chan-wook will create.
