Daejeon Association Emergency Committee Expects Practical Communication with Minister Jeong Eun-kyeong
[Financial News] The Emergency Response Committee of the Korean Association of Medical Residents welcomed the appointment of Jeong Eun-kyeong as the new Minister of Health and Welfare and requested the government to engage in sincere dialogue for the reconstruction of critical and core medical services.
The Daejeon Association Emergency Committee stated on the 22nd, "We sincerely welcome the appointment of Jeong Eun-kyeong as Minister of Health and Welfare and deeply appreciate the Ministry's expressed willingness to discuss improvements in the training environment and the guarantee of training continuity."
They continued, "Korea's healthcare is currently facing a significant crisis, and the prolonged conflict between the medical community and the government is exacerbating the situation," emphasizing that "young doctors also feel a sense of responsibility in this reality and must work together to find a solution."
The Emergency Committee resolved three major tasks through an extraordinary general assembly on the 19th: forming a field expert-centered consultative body to review the essential medical policy package of the Yoon Seok-yeol government, improving the training environment for residents and ensuring training continuity, and establishing a discussion body to alleviate the legal burden of medical accidents.
The Emergency Committee stated, "These demands are not merely to address chronic issues but are urgent requests to rebuild the long-neglected and collapsed critical and essential medical services," adding, "We are prepared to work with the government to create a sustainable healthcare system and undertake fundamental innovations."
Furthermore, they expressed hope to "participate in the reconstruction of critical medical services through sincere dialogue and cooperation with the Korean Association of Medical Residents" and "look forward to practical communication with the newly appointed Minister of Health and Welfare."
