[Financial News] The National Assembly's Special Personnel Hearing Committee adopted the report on the review of the appointment consent for Kim Sang-hwan, the nominee for Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, by agreement between the ruling and opposition parties on the 22nd.
The Special Personnel Hearing Committee held a plenary session on this day and decided on this without any separate disagreement.
The previous day, the ruling and opposition parties clashed over allegations of political bias and gap investment regarding the nominee Kim during the personnel hearing, but reached an agreement on the adoption of the report after mutual discussions on this day.
The National Assembly plans to submit the appointment consent to the plenary session for a vote. The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court is appointed by the President from among the justices with the consent of the National Assembly, and the appointed Chief Justice performs duties for the remaining period of the six-year term of the justices.
Additionally, the National Assembly's Legislative and Judiciary Committee also held a plenary session on this day and adopted the report on the personnel hearing for Oh Young-jun, the nominee for Constitutional Court Justice, by agreement between the ruling and opposition parties. Nominee Oh, designated as a Constitutional Court Justice by the President, is appointed without a vote in the National Assembly plenary session.
