[Financial News] The government is releasing 130 billion won in investment support for semiconductor and advanced industries.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 23rd the 'National Advanced Strategic Industry Materials and Components SME Investment Support Project'. This support fund was newly established this year to promote the technological advancement and stable supply chain construction of advanced industries such as semiconductors, which are directly linked to economic security.
The national subsidy limit is 15 billion won per case, up to a maximum of 20 billion won per company, and considering the investment scale of companies this year, it is expected that about 30 companies will be eligible for support.
The Ministry explained that with this support, the dependence on overseas for economic security items such as epitaxial deposition equipment, rare gases like neon, and silicon wafers will decrease, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of advanced industries and stabilizing the supply chain.
Unlike other subsidy projects, the investment support fund allows for support solely through facility investment without the need to construct or expand buildings. Additionally, considering that a company's facility investment is divided into 'site acquisition → building construction → equipment and facility establishment', ongoing investments can be applied for in stages.
Companies wishing to receive investment support funds must submit their investment plans through the e-Naradoum website by September 12.
The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), the project management agency, will review whether the investment plan qualifies for the investment support fund and verify the implementation of the investment plan through on-site inspections. The final support recipients will be decided by the National Advanced Strategic Industry Committee.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated, "To strengthen the competitiveness of our companies in the advanced industry sector and manage supply chain risks, we plan to continue supporting investment funds and discuss additional support measures with the fiscal authorities."
