Comprehensive Inspection in 9 Areas Followed by Improvement Measures
[Financial News] The Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) announced on the 22nd that it has begun the first railway safety management system regular inspection for the metropolitan area express railway (GTX)-A Woonjeong~Seoul, Suseo~Dongtan routes.
The inspection, conducted from the 21st to the 25th, targets the implementing company SG Rail Co., Ltd. and the operating company GTX-A Operation Co., Ltd. TS conducted a preliminary document inspection on June 26-27 and will conduct on-site inspections in 9 areas this week, including railway vehicles, tracks, signals, and electric power.
The regular inspection of the railway safety management system is a system to verify whether the system is properly maintained even after the operating organization has been approved according to the 'Railway Safety Act'. It plans to focus on inspecting the structural safety of deep underground sections, response scenarios for fire or smoke spread, and emergency training results. If deficiencies are found, corrective actions and improvement plans will be required, and the implementation will also be thoroughly managed.
Jung Yong-sik, Chairman of TS, said, "We will meticulously inspect so that GTX-A can establish itself as a safe and convenient means of transportation in the daily lives of the people," adding, "We will continuously ensure railway safety for the public through regular inspections and follow-up checks."
