Did not comply after the first summons investigation
[Financial News] Lee Jong-ho, former CEO of Black Pearl Investment, considered a key figure in various suspicions surrounding Kim Keon-hee, did not comply with the second summons investigation by the Kim Keon-hee Special Prosecutor Team (Min Jung-gi Special Prosecutor).
The special prosecutor team stated on the 22nd, "The suspect, former CEO Lee, who was scheduled for a summons investigation today, notified by phone of his non-compliance with the appearance," and "The special prosecutor has re-notified former CEO Lee to appear at 10 a.m. tomorrow."
Former CEO Lee, who is under suspicion for stock manipulation involving Deutsche Motors and Sambo Construction, and lobbying for the rescue of Im Seong-geun, appeared at the special prosecutor's office avoiding reporters the previous day. After being investigated for about 7 hours and 30 minutes, former CEO Lee was notified to appear for the second summons investigation by 10 a.m. today.
The special prosecutor team conducted a search and seizure of former CEO Lee's residence and vehicles located in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on the 19th, and it is known that Lee was specified as a suspect for violating the Attorney-at-Law Act in the search and seizure warrant. Former CEO Lee is suspected of receiving approximately 80 million won over 25 occasions from Lee Jeong-pil, the main suspect in the first Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case in 2022, promising to secure a suspended sentence in the trial. It is reported that during the investigation, the special prosecutor team captured circumstances where former CEO Lee mentioned to Lee Jeong-pil that he would talk to "Madam Kim or former President Yoon Seok-yeol to secure a suspended sentence."
The special prosecutor team is expected to question former CEO Lee about △ involvement in the Sambo Construction stock manipulation suspicion △ whether he mentioned a suspended sentence to Lee Jeong-pil while receiving money △ whether he had contact with Madam Kim.
