[Financial News] Taeyoung Construction Consortium announced on the 22nd that it has been selected as the eligible designer for the 'Busan Port Jinhae New Port Container Terminal Phase 1-1 (Section 2) Construction Project' with a total project cost of 605.6 billion won.
This project is a large-scale maritime infrastructure project ordered by the Busan Port Authority, creating a 450m berth and upper facilities where 8000 TEU-class container ships can dock, and a 240m western breakwater off the coast of Jinhae-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam. The construction contract signing and commencement are scheduled for December.
Taeyoung Construction participated as the lead company (33% share) in this bid. The consortium was formed with nine mid-sized construction companies, including GS Construction (20%) and Dongbu Construction (15%). The design is handled by Sekwang Comprehensive Technology Group, Hangdo Engineering, and Daeyang Engineering.
The consortium gained attention in the design review process by proposing a four-way construction method applying a 'multi-functional separated breakwater'. This method shortens the construction period by parallelizing construction using structures that perform both breakwater and pier functions. Additionally, the proposal to introduce soft ground treatment plans and smart construction technology received high evaluations.
Taeyoung Construction continues to achieve results in technology-based bids this year. Starting with the 'Cheongju Multipurpose Indoor Gymnasium' in March, it won contracts for the 'Dongtan 11 High School and 3 other schools' in May, the 'Gwacheon Umyeonsan Urban Expressway' and the 'Suwon Resource Recovery Facility Improvement Project' in June.
A Taeyoung Construction official said, "Based on accumulated know-how and differentiated technology, we will do our best to make this port facility a representative success case through responsible construction."
