DT&C, Low Earth Orbit Satellite Communication Earth Station Wireless Equipment Test Certification

[Financial News] DT&C announced on the 22nd that it has been officially designated as a designated testing agency for test items for low earth orbit satellite communication earth station wireless equipment devices by the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) under the Ministry of Science and ICT, and has completed testing and certification of low earth orbit satellite communication earth station wireless equipment products for the first time in Korea.
This certification officially recognizes that the earth station wireless equipment developed domestically complies with the domestic Radio Law and related technical standards. It is significant as it is the first case of independently testing and certifying the performance and compliance of wireless communication (RF) functions and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) using only domestic technology and infrastructure.
DT&C successfully carried out all conformity assessment procedures by formally commissioning the testing and certification of low earth orbit satellite communication earth station wireless equipment devices developed by the domestic manufacturer Intellian Technologies, based on the test items designated by the RRA.
Seong Ho-seop, head of the DT&C research institute, said, "Since 2023, we have actively participated in the research group activities for establishing technical standards and test standards for the conformity assessment of low earth orbit satellite communication earth stations," and added, "We take pride in having successfully conducted testing and certification by being designated the test items for low earth orbit satellite communication earth station wireless equipment by the RRA for the first time in Korea." He continued, "We will continue to do our best to ensure the reliability of wireless equipment and protect the radio environment."
The low earth orbit satellite communication field plays a key role in building high-performance communication networks, and securing RF performance and electromagnetic compatibility of earth station wireless equipment is an important factor in ensuring communication quality and minimizing radio interference.
A DT&C representative said, "It is expected that the establishment of a domestic testing and certification system through collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT, the National Radio Research Agency, and designated testing agencies (such as DT&C) for the preparation of the low earth orbit satellite communication earth station conformity assessment system will greatly contribute to the development of related industries."
