【Financial News Andong=Kim Jang-uk Reporter】 Gyeongbuk Province is making full efforts to fill the care gaps in elementary schools during vacations.
Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 22nd that it will operate a pilot project 'Our Neighborhood Elementary Vacation Care Center' for elementary school children in grades 1-3 who need care during the summer vacation from the 23rd to September 5th.
The province is promoting the project to respond to the concentrated care gaps during vacations and to alleviate the childcare burden of dual-income and single-parent families.
In particular, this project is expected to present a new care model linked to local resources by providing elementary student care using daycare centers equipped with idle spaces and childcare personnel.
Eom Tae-hyeon, Head of the Low Birthrate Overcoming Headquarters, emphasized, "This pilot project will be a model case that flexibly responds to the changing population structure," and "We will establish a sustainable care system where children, families, and the region can coexist."
The province has selected three daycare centers with idle spaces as pilot operation institutions through a public offering to convert remaining childcare resources into local care infrastructure, including 'Bambini Daycare Center' in Pohang City, 'Rainbow Daycare Center' in Gumi City, and 'Iwon Daycare Center' in Yecheon County.
The selected daycare centers will operate on weekdays from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM, providing participating children with meals, snacks, and various activities centered on reading and play for free.
Additionally, a dedicated care teacher will be assigned to elementary students to create a customized care environment suitable for their developmental stage.
This pilot project is meaningful as a new care model based on the region, reducing care gaps through the linkage of daycare centers and elementary care, and establishing a coexistence system centered on the local community.
Meanwhile, the province plans to expand to all cities and counties in the province from next year if the effectiveness and feasibility are confirmed through inspection and evaluation of the overall project operation.
