[Financial News] It is reported that the US Air Force's MQ-9A Reaper drone will be cyclically deployed to the Korean Peninsula in the second half of this year.
Some experts suggest that it may be related to the strategic redeployment of US forces in Korea, which is being promoted by the Donald Trump administration.
According to military sources on the 21st, the MQ-9A Reaper, known as the 'Silent Assassin of the Sky', is expected to be deployed at the Gunsan Air Base for about three months starting in September. Excluding its participation in joint training conducted on the Korean Peninsula, this is the first time it will be cyclically deployed for three months.
The US and South Korean Air Forces have previously conducted live-fire training using the MQ-9A Reaper drone, and it is expected that the training will be conducted in a way that enhances interoperability this time as well.
The US 7th Air Force stated, "We are prepared to provide forces in a 'Fight Tonight' (constant combat readiness) state to maintain regional security stably, and we will focus on maintaining and strengthening the US-South Korea alliance," but did not confirm specific facts such as the permanent deployment of the Reaper.
