[Financial News] The Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) announced on the 21st that it received a Merit Award at the 100th anniversary ceremony of the Mongolian Ministry of Road and Transport Development held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on the 18th, in recognition of the achievements of traffic safety cooperation between the two countries.
This award was highly evaluated for achieving substantial results in the 'Mongolia Vehicle Inspection Capacity Enhancement and Facility Improvement for Traffic Safety Strengthening Project', a KOICA public cooperation project, which included modernizing the vehicle inspection system in Mongolia, improving inspection facilities, providing technical education, and policy advice.
Since starting a business agreement with the Mongolian Road Management Agency in 2011, TS has continued to provide technical support and cooperation systems in the road traffic sector. From 2023, through the KOICA public cooperation project, it has been steadily continuing exchanges and cooperation centered on the vehicle inspection sector.
This project is attracting attention as a comprehensive cooperation model that focuses on establishing a system foundation beyond simple equipment support, such as △enhancing the inspection system △strengthening inspection personnel capabilities △building an integrated vehicle management system.
TS plans to continue its efforts for the successful implementation of the project based on close cooperation with the Mongolian government. In particular, it plans to expand its activities by promoting new ODA projects with other countries in need of support in the entire road traffic sector and establishing a sustainable business structure based on private cooperation.
Chairman Jeong Yong-sik said, "This award is a symbolic case where Korea's traffic safety policies and experiences have been recognized in the international community beyond the institution," adding, "We will further strengthen traffic safety projects in all fields, including roads, railways, aviation, and automobiles, to contribute to making Korea a leading country in traffic safety."
