LG AI Research Institute Appoints Lee Hong-rak as Vice President and Lim Woo-hyung as Executive Director

LG AI Research Institute announced on the 21st that it has appointed Lee Hong-rak as Vice President (CSAI, Chief AI Scientist) and Lim Woo-hyung as Executive Director (Senior Lab Director and Data Intelligence Lab Director) as the new co-directors.
Director Lee is a renowned scholar recognized for his outstanding authority in the fields of machine learning and deep learning, being selected as one of the world's top 10 AI researchers. He has led the 'LG Global AI Center' under the institute located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, spearheading research for the development of next-generation AI technologies and the expansion of the global AI ecosystem. He is also currently a professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan, USA. Director Lee plans to lead the AI research organization locally in the US, integrate advanced AI technologies into the LG AI Research Institute, and discover global AI talent.
Director Lim Woo-hyung is an expert in machine learning and speech recognition, having conducted AI application research using ExaOne, solving various challenges arising in affiliate businesses and industrial sites. Director Lim will take charge of the overall operation of the institute domestically and expand AI services based on ExaOne.
LG expects the synergy of the two new co-directors to lead business innovation through AI. The term of the co-directors begins today.
