【Financial News Gyeonggi=Kim Kyung-soo Reporter】 Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, held an emergency meeting on the 21st in the Disaster Safety Situation Room No. 1 at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government to support the swift recovery and restoration from the heavy rain damage.
The meeting was attended by the First Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs, the Chief of the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and related department heads to share the heavy rain damage situation in Gapyeong and Pocheon areas and discuss plans for searching for missing persons and support measures.
Gyeonggi Province decided to propose to the government to prioritize the declaration of special disaster areas and provide support for 13 items, including reductions in health insurance premiums, electricity, telecommunications, and city gas fees for the affected areas.
In accordance with the 'Special Support Zone Daily Recovery Support Fund' ordinance, which Gyeonggi Province enacted for the first time nationwide last July, additional support measures for daily recovery support funds for small businesses and farms in the affected areas are also being considered.
To ensure rapid disaster recovery, plans are in place to support emergency recovery costs using the disaster management fund within this week.
The province has set up a 'Gyeonggi-Gapyeong Joint Integrated Support Headquarters' at the Administrative Welfare Center in Jojong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, to carry out activities such as search and rescue, relief for disaster victims, and emergency recovery.
223 personnel, including firefighters and police, and 37 pieces of equipment such as helicopters and drones, are being mobilized to continue the search for missing persons. Equipment from the private sector is actively being deployed to secure access routes for rescue and to focus on electrical and telecommunications restoration for the search of missing and uncontacted persons.
Meanwhile, due to the heavy rain that started on the 19th, there have been 3 deaths, 4 missing persons, and 5 injuries in Gapyeong and Pocheon. There are 45 households (66 people) in Gapyeong, 7 households (11 people) in Pocheon, and 9 households (12 people) in Uijeongbu among the disaster victims. There have been 168 facility damages reported, including 25 cases of road and bridge damage and 53 landslides.
