Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor, Searches Export-Import Bank Headquarters... Related to Cambodia Economic Cooperation

[Financial News] The Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Team (Min Jung-gi Special Prosecutor) has launched a forced investigation into the Export-Import Bank related to the Yoon Seok-yeol government's Cambodia Economic Cooperation Fund.
The special prosecutor team dispatched prosecutors and investigators to the headquarters of the Export-Import Bank located in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, from the morning of the 21st to secure evidence such as files within PCs.
This search and seizure is known to be for investigating the connection between the Cambodia Official Development Assistance (ODA) project conducted under the Yoon Seok-yeol government and the 'Geonjin Monk Solicitation Suspicion'.
Jeon Seong-bae, known as Geonjin Monk, is suspected of receiving a diamond necklace and Chanel bag as gifts for Mrs. Kim from Yoon Young-ho, the former head of the Unification Church's global headquarters, around April to August 2022, and delivering them to Mrs. Kim. The special prosecutor team is conducting a search and seizure on the Unification Church and 'Mrs. Kim's Sponsoring Company' Heerim Architects & Planners Co., Ltd., from the morning following the 18th.
In June 2022, when Mr. Yoon's solicitation was made, the government increased the External Economic Cooperation Fund (EDCF) loan support limit for Cambodia from 700 million dollars to 1.5 billion dollars.
As the Export-Import Bank is the institution responsible for the operation and management of the fund entrusted with the EDCF by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the special prosecutor team is expected to look into the background, process, and reasons for the increase in the EDCF support limit for Cambodia through this search and seizure.
