【Financial News Yeosu=Hwang Taejong Reporter】LG Chem Yeosu Plant announced that on the 21st, it conducted a joint public-private heat illness prevention campaign to protect workers' health during the summer heatwave, in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
This campaign was attended by LG Chem's Park Kisun, Global Production Center Director, Lee Hyungyu, Resident Executive, as well as Lee Kyunggeun, Head of Yeosu Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Shin Yongju, Branch Manager of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, among about 30 participants.
The campaign was conducted in conjunction with the safety and health cooperation project for large and small businesses organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, where participants from each institution guided workers on heat illness prevention rules and provided cooling equipment to raise awareness of heat illness among workers.
Previously, LG Chem Yeosu Plant has implemented heat illness prevention measures such as providing cooling shelters at work sites, daily perceived temperature alerts via KakaoTalk, and broadcasting heat illness prevention rules before work, and plans to create a healthy work environment through various preventive activities including this campaign.
A representative from the Yeosu Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor stated, "While heatwaves cannot be avoided, heat illness is a preventable risk if both labor and management pay attention and do their best at industrial sites," and emphasized, "The five basic safety rules for heatwaves, especially the legal obligation to provide at least 20 minutes of rest every two hours during heatwave work, must be strictly observed."
An LG Chem representative stated, "Through this campaign, we aim to contribute to creating an environment where workers can work healthily," and emphasized, "We will continue to strengthen safety and health management by preparing more effective preventive measures through cooperation with government agencies."
