[Financial News]  The Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor's team (Min Jung-gi Special Prosecutor) is conducting a second raid on the Unification Church Seoul headquarters on the 21st to verify the 'Geonjinbeopsa request allegations'. It is known that the additional raid is being conducted because the forensic work on the evidence secured during the first raid on the 18th has not been completed.
Previously, the special prosecutor's team simultaneously raided various church facilities on the 18th, including the Seoul headquarters, the Unification Church headquarters in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong, and the Unification Maintenance Foundation, which manages business funds.
The special prosecutor's team plans to investigate the allegations that the Unification Church made improper requests to Mrs. Kim through Jeon Seong-bae, known as Geonjinbeopsa, based on the secured physical evidence.
Mr. Jeon is suspected of having delivered a diamond necklace and Chanel bag, labeled as 'gifts for Mrs. Kim', and other church-related requests from Mr. Yoon to Mrs. Kim around April to August 2022.
The requests allegedly included support for the Unification Church's Mekong River development project in Cambodia, the acquisition of YTN by the Unification Church, hosting the 5th UN Secretariat in Korea, and invitations to the presidential inauguration.
